Movie Review : Red Cliff

Cool poster huh?

This is a John Woo film! Faceoff, Windtalkers and also Mission Impossible 2 director. He's back! Now in Mandarin though. Huhu.

The casts is quite impressive. Tony Leung played General Shun Quan from Wu territory. Takeshi Kaneshiro play as a Chief Strategist for Liu Bei Kingdom. While Zhao Wei played as a princess from Wu territory.

The storyline is very interesting. I do like Chinese History kind of story. I should say that this is due to influence of Tony Wong's comics in Malaysia during my early years. Alam Perwira, Juara Wira, Anak-Anak Wira to name a few. Cool huh?

Liu Bei happened to be the losing side when battle with Cao Cao army. However, with the help of Wu clan (Shun Quan), they managed to overcome the mighty forces of Cao Cao army. This was due to the effectiveness of tactics and strategies planned by the alliance. Also, the presence of 3 powerful warriors who is loyal to Liu Bei.

This is part 1 of the movie. And the 'Red Cliff' battle hasn't started yet in this movie. We will see how they battle out in the sea in Part II.

Not much of BLOOD. If y'know what i mean Hehe. Maybe FINAS had something to do with this though.

JJCM : Saloma Bistro and Theatre Restaurant

Actual I dined at Theatre Restaurant last Wednesday sponsored by Texas Instruments. . Dinner free of course I’m happy…hehe… Its buffet and I mostly are Malaysia food. Some of the engineers are invited including me to chit chat with our HPA manager from Dallas.

How to get there
This restaurant situated at Jalan Ampang near Pusat Perlancongan Malaysia (MTC) and Zouk...

What so special
The cultural show is the most interesting. I enjoyed watching many types of Malaysian dancing and most of the foreign tourists enjoyed recording the show. The food? Of course Malaysian food are served…Nasi minyak, Rendang ayam, udang panggang, roasted lamp, satay, lemamng, bubur kacang, ais kacang, kuih2 tradisional etc…the food quite tasty and I enjoy all food there until my stomach full..hehe…

Worth a re-try
Yes if you have extra money to spent and like watching dancing show..

EEunderground : Blog Update July

As predicted, pretty much slow progress there at EEU blog. Hehe. So far, I noticed that Wanie, Aziah, Jiba had been a regular visitor for the blog. Well, its kinda good la for a start.

By the way, I did add 2 new entries there. The first one is on Malaysia vs Chelsea match tomorrow. Another one is for PC Fair 2008 starting this friday. Should I blog like this?

I mean all the sports + computer related entries I'll put it on EEU blog. What do you think?

Movie Review : X-Files - I Want to Believe

I was expecting an alien abduction+zombie+mystery+UFO kind of movie for this movie. Well, it's X-Files you know. It turned out that there were no UFO, no Bigfoot or no Zombie whatsoever. Pretty much unexpected huh? But not that WOW thingy actually. See for yourself! Huhu

Its good to see Mulder and Scully back in action. And guess what? We have Agent Skinner as well. Huhu. This time around, Mulder and Scully are not in FBI anymore. But, their assistance pretty much needed by FBI to solve a mystery. A missing FBI agent.

A psychic (the only x-files-related-thingy), had this visions of where this FBI agent kept. With this, Mulder and the FBI agents managed to get to this missing agent. Thats it.

The real story behind all this missing agent was a Russian doctor experimenting to transfer a HEAD c/w brain to another healthy body. Later in the movie, it was called Modern Frankenstein. Apparently, the agent's body was suitable for the HEAD. Not sure why though.

No alien/UFO thing. No suspense or really thrilling scen.

Movie Review : Kung Fu Hip Hop

Well, L and I had our movie(s) day out together yesterday. Eventhough I could say that almost every movie in cinema right now, we've already watched it. Huhu.

Kung Fu Hip Hop tells a story about Jordan Chan, who didn't have a proper job. In order to survive, he sells second hand items and also by performing street rapping. At the same time, he in needs a lot of money to pay for sister's medical. Unfortunately, her sister had to undergo an eye surgery.

Jordan Chan had a gift. A passion for hip-hop dance and also intensive kung fu training he went through when he was a boy. Combine both, you'll get Kung Fu Hip Hop. Huhu

To cut story short, Jordan Chan managed to impress a DJ. A female DJ to be exact. A soon-to-be-girlfriend. Later both of them managed to gather a group of young mechanics to team up with them. There'll be a Hip Hop dance competition. Guess what? They'll up against Xiauchuan, the best Hip Hop artist in China at that moment.

Well, you need to see for yourself what happened next though. Huhu. I dont want to spoil you.

Finale battle. Too lame. Imagine how a team won a battle just because a guy can do 1 impossible trick. Yup, Jordan Chan can stand upside down with only his thumb supports his whole body. THUMB! Damn.

Also, have you heard the song, Raise Me Up? I think it was Michael Buble's. Yup, the song is in this movie. In the final battle to be exact. Actually, it was just a background music. But still, too inappropriate. Huhu. IMHO lar..

Sports : Fantasy Football

English Premier League will start soon. Next month. Huhu. The fever is back! I've been playing this fantasy football game 3 years already. Along with my EEunderground friends.

Its kinda cool actually. Being able to create a team every matchday by selecting EPL players that in your view will perform the best every week. Its not pure luck actually. Sometimes you need to aware recent news of EPL as well.

This year will be the 4th year. Huhu. EEu league currently have 8 teams joined. I notice that 2 ladies joined. Hehe. Wani and Liza. Hahaha. Nice one.

I'll blog more when the season starts.

JJCM : Bangkok Expresso : Thai Nudle Cafe

I've had a pretty heavy lunch today. Hehe. Actually I had a meeting with contractor at The Taipan building at Jalan P.Ramlee. Soon after the meeting adjourned, we treat ourselves at this Restaurant. Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan.

How to get there
Actually this cafe situated inside The Weld shopping complex. Along Jalan P.Ramlee or Jalan Chulan I supposed. The shopping complez is not that big. So, it should be no problem finding this restaurant.

What so special
We ordered quite exquisite and expensive dishes to be exact. What I can see on the menu is that Tom Yam is their expertise. (Well, what you expect for a Thai Restaurant?). Other than that is the coffees. Yup, its like starbucks + thai restaurant. Huhu. Also, dont forget to try the garoupa (Kerapu) and Steamed Siakap. Yum..Yum.. Also Pandan leave Chicken and Sizzling Shrimps. Nice.

I dont like the drinks though. Hehe. I ordered myself watermelon juice. So-So laa..

Worth a re-try
Yes and No. Yes if I have an excessive money to spent. Hehe.

Denggi

Nothing special to blog today. But just want to share a major concern today among people around me these days.

Last week, 2 of my colleagues warded for Dengue Fever. Both are still warded. Kak Ju are still in Ampang Puri with her husband. Nope, her husband isn't there to accompany her. He is in fact, warded for the same disease as well. Dengue!. Chee Ho are still undergoing treatment at Prince court. I pray for their speedy recovery.

Below is the excerpt from wikipedia.

This infectious disease is manifested by a sudden onset of fever, with severe headache, muscle and joint pains (myalgias and arthralgias—severe pain gives it the name break-bone fever or bonecrusher disease) and rashes. The dengue rash is characteristically bright red petechiae and usually appears first on the lower limbs and the chest; in some patients, it spreads to cover most of the body. There may also be gastritis with some combination of associated abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.

Other symptoms include

• fever;
• chills;
• constant headaches;
• bleeding from nose, mouth or gums;
• severe dizziness; and,
• loss of appetite.

Notice that diarrhea and vomitting are among the symptoms.

Be extremely careful!! Some may say a simple fever or cold will eventually fade itself. My advice, get yourself proper medication. If possible, get to your nearest medical experts. Meaning to say, hospital or clinic which is well known. Cost is the 2nd thing. Life is priority number ONE!.

Movie Review : Dark Knight

I took 1 day leave yesterday. Yeah, Its been a while since the last time I took one. I guess, it referred also for 1 day off for blogging. Hehe.

Away from office and works, L and I went to OU to catch the movie, Dark Knight. The most anticipated movie of the year. Well, I can see that it probably because of the Joker. New Joker played by (R.I.P) Heath Ledger. 2 thumbs up performance by Heath Ledger. Cool.

Throughout the story line, I was expecting some sort of 'History of Joker'. Well, maybe in another sequel/prequel after this? Hehe. I was not expecting a 'The Making of Two-Face' though in this movie. Well, another twist that pretty much make this movie more interesting.

The story started out when the Gotham's bad guys threaten by another power other than Batman. The District Attorney (DA), Harvey Dent! With the help of Batman, the DA and the police (head by Chief Gordon), DA was goint to do a mass prosecution to all of the bad guys.

Joker offer himself to the bad guys to kill Batman. In returns, he wants half of the money they gathered for themselves. Joker proven himself by blowing up (killed) the Judge and Police Commissioner (also Chief Gordon).

Batman with the help of resurrected Gordon managed to capture Joker. At the same time, Joker already had Sarah (ex-GF of Batman) and Harvey in his custody. In the lock up, Joker played a game with Batman. With minutes remaining, Batman had to chose between Sarah or Harvey to save. Both are in different places. Guess what? Batman chose to save Harvey! Well, bye-bye to Sarah then. As the police and Batman going for Harvey and Sarah, Joker himself managed to get out from the lock up.

And the real battle began after that. Batman vs Joker. And also the emergence of Two-Face. The ending kinda interesting though. It makes you convinced that a sequel after this would be something to watch out. Go watch it!

Movie Review : Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D movie

"Nasib baik 3D, kalau x da membazir da tgk cite nie" I said to L as we walk out of the cinema.

She replied, "Awat? Sebab die sejam 20 minit je ke?".

"Memang pun." I smiled.

Thats pretty much sum everything abouth the movie. Hehe. 3D + too short.

Honestly, if you didnt want to spend more to watch a 3D version of this movie, better dont watch. Hehe. Well, the flow and animation in the movie already made for a 3D movie experience. In order to enjoy it, watch the 3D version laa. But still, I was expecting the RM17 price for a ticket to be reduced on Wednesday. Hell no. Huhu.

In summary, the story is about a guy (Brendan Fraser) in his mission to continue his brother's works based on a book. He flew all the way to Iceland with his nephew as they 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'. They met a girl, the daughter of a guy mentioned in the book who supposed to know the real story about Brendan's brother. Together, the 3 of them climb a mountain and accidentally trapped in a cave.

It turned out to be that the cave is actually the passage to the centre of the earth. The mission was to find Max, Brendan's brother. They found Max's body near a shelter which Max supposed to study about the 'other world' they currently experiencing on.

Based on a sketch and a diary, they made themselve out of the world. Along the process, they've encountered Deadly flying fish, Man-eating Plant, T-rex, and Blue-Luminescented Bird. Cool huh? Better not miss this movie on your cinema. And of course, the 3D version. Hehe.

3D experience. Way too Cool to explained here. You need to experience it yourself. As you watch the movie, sometimes you felt like something is coming towards you. Rain drops, book been thrown, birds, rocks. Cool! Huhu.

Too short. 1 hour and 20 minutes I guessed. If its 2 hours, I will definitely say the movie worth your money. Hehe.

Em.. Just talk with my big boss. Yup, its on the project attachment thingy. It turned out that the international project requires well experienced engineer there. To be exact, at least 6 years of experience.

Thats a BIG NO for me. Hmm.. Maybe another project huh? My boss already put me in some sort of 'waiting list'. I just hope I wouldn't wait that LONG.

Nice huh? Pic taken after watching this 3D movie. Actually this was our 2nd time watching 3D movie.

The first one was not actually a TGV or GSC movie. Hehe. It was during our Skybridge visit. Just a 3D montage about KLCC. Well, it still count right?

Petronas reports record nett profit of RM61b

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Group reported a record nett profit of RM61bil for the year ended March 31, 2008, up 31.5% from RM46.4bil a year ago, says its president Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Merican.

At a press conference here, Hassan also informed that Petronas declared RM6bil in special dividends to the Federal Government this year.

Actually, I've planned to visit UPM today. Provided that L given permission to take a leave today or other EEundergrounders also planned the same. It turned out that L's intention to take a leave today was turned down. Huhu.

As for feedback by my fellow EEundergrounders, ZERO. In fact, I did post about this and invited all my former colleagues here. Well, maybe they have something else to do huh?

My intention actually just to pay a visit to former lecturers in UPM. This kind of occassion is suitable for us to meet the lecturers. It might be kinda awkward just to visit them during weekdays without any occasion or even invitation. Hehe.

Well, maybe next time. Robocon?

Just got a news yesterday that our friend, K-N had become a father. His wife safely delivered a girl on 9th July 2008. Darweesyah Raina the name. Cool huh?

Honestly, it came to most up us as a big surprise. We didn't aware his wife actually pregnant in the first place! Well, I suppose his close friends might knew about this already. (eg. Aziah).

I notice that K-N also worked at KL Monorail right now. Congrats bro.

Movie Review : War of the Dragons

Actually, I've seen this movie for quite a long time already. Not in malaysia's cinema, but on pirated DVD shelves in Miri. The title also different. It was 'Dragon Wars'. I also noticed that in Korea, the movie's title was 'D-War'. Whats with this different titles anyway? Bengong.. Hehe.

After watching this movie, I said to L 'Ni macam tgk Ultraman je'. L replied 'Dragonball pun ada gak!". True..its true. 'Ultraman' is where the dragons attacked the city. As for the dragonball, of course the Dragon itself. You know what happened when all of the dragonballs collected by Goku right? Yup, he can summoned a Dragon. That dragon kinda the same in this movie. Hehe. (Of course la dragons are same right?)

Based on Korean myth, every 500 years, an Imoogi will try to become a Divine Dragon. In order to become a Dragon, Imoogi needs something called 'Yoo Da' I think. Not so sure whats the name. Hehe. Imoogi actually a serpent. Very big one. This movie have 2 Imoogi, good and bad imoogi.

The 'Yoo da' things kept in human soul. Or should I say a girl's soul. Fate decided that a reincarnation of a past warrior will also emerge to help that innocent girl. Jason Behr (Roswell drama fame) plays the role of this so called 'warrior'.

The evil imoogi do have its own followers. As they already identified the girl, they pursue and chased the girl. The warrior with the help of another 'sifoo', master Ba Chuan try and protect the girl from the evil bad imoogi. But failed. Huhu.

The bad guys managed to capture Sarah. What happened next? Hehe. Watch it for yourself lor.

The evolution from Serpent(Imoogi) to the dragon. Kinda cool. Huhu. Cant wait for the Dragonball the Movie. Hehe.

The hero. So lame. I mean, nothing special about his guy except for the pendant given by Buchan to him. No special power or skills in swords whatsoever.

Movie Review : Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army

Well, we went for another movie outing yesterday. Hellboy 2. Did you know that for first Hellboy, Malaysia changed the title to Super Sapiens? Wonder why the 2nd they didn't changed. And what's wrong with the word Hellboy anyway? Bengong..

Moving on. This movie tells a story about a legend of a truce between human and 'other' species. Long, long time ago, human managed to control all over the world by war. And in the process defeated this 'other' species. One day, a blacksmith offer the King of the 'other' species to build a special army. The Golden Army, indestructable and undefeated army. In order to control the army, a device created. Only the owner of the device can control the Army provided no challenge from other qualified challenger.

After they finished build the army, they fought in another war with the human. In the process, both power agreed to a truce or a peace treaty. Its like creating a border between 2 worlds. The King agreed and send the golden army to a hidden place. Kept secret. Prince Nuala, the King's son didn't agree with the truce and promised to take vengeance to the humankind later.

Cut story short, the device that supposed to be kept hidden found in the human world. As they began auctioning for this 'artifact', Prince Nuala came and claim the device as his species' own. This is the starting poing where Red(Hellboy) with his team get involve with this mess.

Apart from the war story, there's also a romantic story between Red and Liz. I cant imagine Red and Liz having a baby. Maybe a 'Red + Burning' baby huh? And Abe also had his love story. Hehe. See for yourself.

The early scene where the narrator describe about the history of the Human vs other species. Just lame. Its like watching Lego cartoon. Hehe.

Something Odd

Well, as usual, I went for Friday prayers here at Masjid As-Syakirin KLCC. At first nothing unusual or odd happened. Hehe.

After finished Friday prayer, I noticed that not a single Jemaah or Muslim at the Masjid wore corporate Petronas shirt. Maybe just a coincidence huh? Usually you can see people wore PGB, PCSB, Petronas or even MLNG shirt. (MLNG shirt doesn't have petronas logo on it).

Let me share a story.

One day, two guys argue and discuss about Oil price in a shop, A and B. Another guy, C interfere, and gave his opinion. Indeed his opinion is kinda professional and very much the thing that really happened right now.

A then ask C, "Awak kerja kat mane?"

"Carigali" C replied.

B then said. "Nasib baik Carigali, kalau Petronas tadi, aku da belasah ko nie!"

C smiled and left the scene. He said to himself, "Nasib baik dorg x tau Carigali tu Petronas jugak sebenarnya."

Thats the dilemma. Malay Dilemma huh? hehehe.

Also, check this out here. Petronas move up to no.95 in Fortune Global 500. Malaysians should be proud.

Movie Review : Bank Job

Where should I start? Hehe. Nothing so attractive actually about this movie. Except for the Transporter 1 & 2 hero in it, Jason Statham. And of course, the title itself. Kinda like Italian Job huh?

Towards the end of the movie, It appeared to me that this movie actually based on a true story. Except for the names of course. Huhu.

Actually, I missed a few minutes of the movie because of L and I kinda late yesterday. Hehe. So, this review is based on my understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

The story is about an amateur gangs of 3 guys who desperately in need of money. Jason Statham lead the gang. One day, a lady came to them and offered them something that they cant refuse. Hehe. A Bank Job indeed.

The idea was to robbed the bank by underground. Prison Break kind of thing. If y'know what I mean. No special gadgets or lasers involved. Just ordinary amateur tools to dig and crush the floor and concrete wall.

Cut story short, they managed to rob the bank. What the robbers didn't know was that the bank also have storage boxes that contains docs and also photos. Explicit contents should I say. Hehe.

The lady who ask for them to rob the bank actually wants a safety deposit box numbered 118. It contained explicit photos of someone in the Royal Family. It turned out that the lady taking the order from someone High in the government. In returns, the lady will get her drug trafficking case cleared out from the Police.

The story become more complicated when the robbers knew they also have explicit photos of a Member of Parliament and also a Financial Ledger owned by a Porn Film producer. The ledger actually record all the payments made by the producer to cops so that he can do his thing easier. List of corrupted cops should I say.

And thats the overall picture. Dont want to spoil the ending for you. Watch it for yourself la. Hehe.

British accent and also inconsistent Malay translation. You have to listen carefully to understand the movie. The translation sometimes incorrect.

No 'Italian Job' kind of bank robbery. Too straightforward and simple method used. Lame.

I'm not sure whether this is a good or not so good news. I've just being offered to re-assign to another project. Well, its not Sabah or Indonesia.

Still not confirm yet. Its an International project. Am I really up for it?

Ermm.. Interesting news I got today. Been in touch with my Manager who's in charge in Staff's attachment to project. He mentioned that currently there are 2 projects asking for manpower. Particularly for electrical engineer.

The first one is in Indonesia. And another one in Sabah. Well, he seems want to place me at the Sabah project. His justification is that I'm a Sabahan. Berbakti kepada rakyat! Hehe.

Actually, I hope that will come true. I was hoping to get a Sabah project. Although it doesn't mean that I'll be stationed at Sabah for the entire project. I think its good for me. Another way to contribute to my Sabah.

Today, I'm fasting. Huhu. I pray, I'll get this project. Insya-Allah.

I went to Low Yat during Lunch time just now. Bought a few things. To be exact, I bought Pendrive, VGA Cable and also CD-Rs.

Did you know that 1GB pendrive sold for only RM19 right now. And within that range you'll found various type of pendrive. For example, pic above. Envo brand. I bought for RM24. Well, this one actually for my sister. That's why I chose one. Cute, small and should I say feminine? Huhu.. Also the box kinda cool.

CD-Rs? I've planned to burn a few CD-Audios. Hehe.

Well, I just want to write about an RPG game that I currently playing. RPG stands for Role Playing Game ok! It means that you play a role in that game. Whatever decision you make will affect the storyline. Its like watching a movie and you can control the hero. In other words, you are the Hero!

My favourite was Final Fantasy. I'll post on that later. For today, Brave Story is our focus. Huhu.

The story is about a boy called Tetsuo who somehow found his friend Miki lying in Bed due to some injuries/sickness. In order to cure Miki, a Lady (in the game its actually only a voice) sent Tetsuo to Vision (other than our world lor). His mission was to find 4 gemstones that can cure his Girlfriend. Nice huh?

In Vision, Tetsuo kind of guy (persons from earth to Vision) called Traveller. There, he met Yuno. A girl+cat species. Weird but cute. Hehe. Yuno decide to assist Tetsuo in his quest to find all the gemstones.

Along the storyline, Tetsuo befriended some characters that can be added to his team (means that at 1 fighting scene, you can control 3 characters). There are also NPC (Non Playable Character) which were nice but cannot be added. Some characters only joining the team for a limited period only i.e for a specific mission.

Actually, I'm not done yet for this game. Hehe. Currently I'm at Chapter 9. Not so sure how many chapters are there. Currently there are 4 character in my team inclusive of Tetsuo, Yuno, Sogreth and Meladee. Refer to pic above. There are 6 of them. Wohoo. Need to find 2 more.

I'll post another posting after I finish the game. Hehe. What happened to Miki? Who's Traveler Rei? Huhu.

University

I was informed by L that her sister is going to further her study in Degree in Pharmacy this year. Congratulation to her. She will be going to register at UiTM, Shah Alam this saturday. In fact, last saturday, her younger brother enrolled to UPM to pursue his degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Another UPM graduate in the making. Idup UPM!. :)


My advice for both of them is enjoy your life at U. Hehe. Be strong, and of course your sister is there if you need any.

I do hope Firdaus can get his hand in Education sponsorship. Telekom, JPA, Mara or even Petronas. Just get in touch with HEP.

And one of my junior is going to continue her Master in UK. Nice huh? Even nicer is that her course is Actuarial Science. Never heard of it? Google it lor..

Madinah Mohd Hassan. My senior in SMSLD. If I'm not mistaken, people called her Mad or Kak Mad during school days.

He died due to Dengue Fever. In Malay, 'Denggi Berdarah'. It come to a shock for most of our friends and of course our seniors.

For my batch, we already suffer the loss of Cynthia Mohd Hassan last year. The thing that makes me feel so sad is that Cynthia is Madinah's younger sister. I pray for both of them.

DFE : Drilling Platform & Drilling Rig

Cool pic huh? Hehe.. Pictyre above actually shows 2 different offshore structures. The yellow one is the drilling platform, while the silver and bigger one is the drilling rig.

Where is this? This was pictured at Terengganu Offshore, Ledang platform. The rig is mobile while the platform is fixed. The rig is huge isn't it? huhu..
