Movie Review : The House Bunny

Imagine, you have 2 choice of 2 stupid movies : House Bunny or Disaster Movie, which one would you choose?

Hehe. I've watched Epic movie, Date Movie as well as Meet the Sparta. What I can say is that, they are all the same. Lame jokes and some not funny at all! 

I guess thats answer my question above. I chose House Bunny. Scary movie's Anna Faris is in this movie. She also starred in Epic Movie. Probably the 'Bunny' thing kinda enlighten me though. If y'know what I'm sayin'. Hehe. I'm quite surprise its a 'U' movie. "Sesuai untuk tontonan umum". Do those guys actually do their classifying movies in their right way?

Enough of that, lets move on to the storyline. Shelley, a playboy bunny forced to move out from the playboy mansion. Sad and depressed, she ended to a high school sorority home. There were already 7 high school girls in that house. Apparently, their sorority is for the 'Outsiders' only. Or should I say 'Losers'. Shelly mission is to perform 'extreme makeover' for all the 7 girls so that their sorority become popular and doesn't need to be demolished. 

What will happened? See for yourself. Huhu.

Movie Review : Shaolin Girl

Honestly, I had a pretty much high expectation for this movie. Yup, Stephen Chow is involved. Eventhough he is not the director or actor. At least 1 thing for sure it supposed to be hillarious. Hehe. It turned out to be a lame movie after all. No wonder Stephen Chow didn't act in this movie. Hehe.

A japanese girl, Rin sent to China by his grandfather to learn Shaolin Kung Fu for a period of 3000 days. Upon completing, she went back to Japan with hope that the Dojo (where she started her Kung Fu lesson with her sensei) is still there. Unfortunately, the Dojo already closed.

Frustrated with it, she didn't gave up on her mission to spread Kung Fu in Japan. Minmin a college student agreed to became her first student. On the other hand, Rin agreed to play Lacrosse and represent the college together with Minmin and her team.

You alredy see where this story heading huh? Yup, Lacrosse + Shaolin that is! Lacrosse is a hockey+football kind of game. You need a stick with a basket on the tip end of the stick to keep the ball. The objective is like football. Score to your opponent's goal.

The rest of the story totally ridiculous. Way too far compared to Shaolin Soccer or Kung Fu Hustle. No more sports+kung fu theme movie ok! huh!

Ridiculous scenes. At least in Shaolin Soccer it was a 'Wow' scene eventhough it was unrealistic. But in this movie? Too exaggerated special effect and CGI.

Lacrosse matches of course. I havent seen any match in full though in real world. But after watching this movie, I think its worthed. But where to watch huh?

Movie Review : Mummy Returns - Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

I've read some reviews that comparing this movie with previous 2 Mummy movies. Well, most of them said that the Mummy this time not that brutal enough! True. Its true.

Other than that, I should say that this movie worth your money. The storyline pretty much simple and straight forward. Also, we have Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in this movie. Yeah, another good reason why you should watch this movie.

Brendan Fraser this time together with his wife, son and assistant venture to China. It appeared that his son had awaken a Wicked chinese emperor.

Earlier in the movie, it showed the history of who is this Dragon Emperor. Jet Li played as a Emperor who wants to be immortal with the help of a Witch, played by Michelle Yeoh. But, the Witch in returns cast a spell for the Emperor and his army which sealed them underground. I think so. Hehe.

Decades later, Brendan Fraser's son excavated and awaken this emperor. The Witch and his daughter is the one who is immortal. Their job was to guard the tomb. Unfortunately they failed. In returns, they need to cooperate with Brendan's group to defeat the Emperor. The rest is history. Better watch it yourself.

Jet Li. IMO, I think that Jet Li specialties in Kung Fu pretty much under-use in this movie.

The Witch resurrect another army to go against the Emperor's army. She had to sacrifice her immortality though.

Movie Review : Red Cliff

Cool poster huh?

This is a John Woo film! Faceoff, Windtalkers and also Mission Impossible 2 director. He's back! Now in Mandarin though. Huhu.

The casts is quite impressive. Tony Leung played General Shun Quan from Wu territory. Takeshi Kaneshiro play as a Chief Strategist for Liu Bei Kingdom. While Zhao Wei played as a princess from Wu territory.

The storyline is very interesting. I do like Chinese History kind of story. I should say that this is due to influence of Tony Wong's comics in Malaysia during my early years. Alam Perwira, Juara Wira, Anak-Anak Wira to name a few. Cool huh?

Liu Bei happened to be the losing side when battle with Cao Cao army. However, with the help of Wu clan (Shun Quan), they managed to overcome the mighty forces of Cao Cao army. This was due to the effectiveness of tactics and strategies planned by the alliance. Also, the presence of 3 powerful warriors who is loyal to Liu Bei.

This is part 1 of the movie. And the 'Red Cliff' battle hasn't started yet in this movie. We will see how they battle out in the sea in Part II.

Not much of BLOOD. If y'know what i mean Hehe. Maybe FINAS had something to do with this though.

Movie Review : X-Files - I Want to Believe

I was expecting an alien abduction+zombie+mystery+UFO kind of movie for this movie. Well, it's X-Files you know. It turned out that there were no UFO, no Bigfoot or no Zombie whatsoever. Pretty much unexpected huh? But not that WOW thingy actually. See for yourself! Huhu

Its good to see Mulder and Scully back in action. And guess what? We have Agent Skinner as well. Huhu. This time around, Mulder and Scully are not in FBI anymore. But, their assistance pretty much needed by FBI to solve a mystery. A missing FBI agent.

A psychic (the only x-files-related-thingy), had this visions of where this FBI agent kept. With this, Mulder and the FBI agents managed to get to this missing agent. Thats it.

The real story behind all this missing agent was a Russian doctor experimenting to transfer a HEAD c/w brain to another healthy body. Later in the movie, it was called Modern Frankenstein. Apparently, the agent's body was suitable for the HEAD. Not sure why though.

No alien/UFO thing. No suspense or really thrilling scen.

Movie Review : Kung Fu Hip Hop

Well, L and I had our movie(s) day out together yesterday. Eventhough I could say that almost every movie in cinema right now, we've already watched it. Huhu.

Kung Fu Hip Hop tells a story about Jordan Chan, who didn't have a proper job. In order to survive, he sells second hand items and also by performing street rapping. At the same time, he in needs a lot of money to pay for sister's medical. Unfortunately, her sister had to undergo an eye surgery.

Jordan Chan had a gift. A passion for hip-hop dance and also intensive kung fu training he went through when he was a boy. Combine both, you'll get Kung Fu Hip Hop. Huhu

To cut story short, Jordan Chan managed to impress a DJ. A female DJ to be exact. A soon-to-be-girlfriend. Later both of them managed to gather a group of young mechanics to team up with them. There'll be a Hip Hop dance competition. Guess what? They'll up against Xiauchuan, the best Hip Hop artist in China at that moment.

Well, you need to see for yourself what happened next though. Huhu. I dont want to spoil you.

Finale battle. Too lame. Imagine how a team won a battle just because a guy can do 1 impossible trick. Yup, Jordan Chan can stand upside down with only his thumb supports his whole body. THUMB! Damn.

Also, have you heard the song, Raise Me Up? I think it was Michael Buble's. Yup, the song is in this movie. In the final battle to be exact. Actually, it was just a background music. But still, too inappropriate. Huhu. IMHO lar..

Movie Review : Dark Knight

I took 1 day leave yesterday. Yeah, Its been a while since the last time I took one. I guess, it referred also for 1 day off for blogging. Hehe.

Away from office and works, L and I went to OU to catch the movie, Dark Knight. The most anticipated movie of the year. Well, I can see that it probably because of the Joker. New Joker played by (R.I.P) Heath Ledger. 2 thumbs up performance by Heath Ledger. Cool.

Throughout the story line, I was expecting some sort of 'History of Joker'. Well, maybe in another sequel/prequel after this? Hehe. I was not expecting a 'The Making of Two-Face' though in this movie. Well, another twist that pretty much make this movie more interesting.

The story started out when the Gotham's bad guys threaten by another power other than Batman. The District Attorney (DA), Harvey Dent! With the help of Batman, the DA and the police (head by Chief Gordon), DA was goint to do a mass prosecution to all of the bad guys.

Joker offer himself to the bad guys to kill Batman. In returns, he wants half of the money they gathered for themselves. Joker proven himself by blowing up (killed) the Judge and Police Commissioner (also Chief Gordon).

Batman with the help of resurrected Gordon managed to capture Joker. At the same time, Joker already had Sarah (ex-GF of Batman) and Harvey in his custody. In the lock up, Joker played a game with Batman. With minutes remaining, Batman had to chose between Sarah or Harvey to save. Both are in different places. Guess what? Batman chose to save Harvey! Well, bye-bye to Sarah then. As the police and Batman going for Harvey and Sarah, Joker himself managed to get out from the lock up.

And the real battle began after that. Batman vs Joker. And also the emergence of Two-Face. The ending kinda interesting though. It makes you convinced that a sequel after this would be something to watch out. Go watch it!

Movie Review : Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D movie

"Nasib baik 3D, kalau x da membazir da tgk cite nie" I said to L as we walk out of the cinema.

She replied, "Awat? Sebab die sejam 20 minit je ke?".

"Memang pun." I smiled.

Thats pretty much sum everything abouth the movie. Hehe. 3D + too short.

Honestly, if you didnt want to spend more to watch a 3D version of this movie, better dont watch. Hehe. Well, the flow and animation in the movie already made for a 3D movie experience. In order to enjoy it, watch the 3D version laa. But still, I was expecting the RM17 price for a ticket to be reduced on Wednesday. Hell no. Huhu.

In summary, the story is about a guy (Brendan Fraser) in his mission to continue his brother's works based on a book. He flew all the way to Iceland with his nephew as they 'Journey to the Center of the Earth'. They met a girl, the daughter of a guy mentioned in the book who supposed to know the real story about Brendan's brother. Together, the 3 of them climb a mountain and accidentally trapped in a cave.

It turned out to be that the cave is actually the passage to the centre of the earth. The mission was to find Max, Brendan's brother. They found Max's body near a shelter which Max supposed to study about the 'other world' they currently experiencing on.

Based on a sketch and a diary, they made themselve out of the world. Along the process, they've encountered Deadly flying fish, Man-eating Plant, T-rex, and Blue-Luminescented Bird. Cool huh? Better not miss this movie on your cinema. And of course, the 3D version. Hehe.

3D experience. Way too Cool to explained here. You need to experience it yourself. As you watch the movie, sometimes you felt like something is coming towards you. Rain drops, book been thrown, birds, rocks. Cool! Huhu.

Too short. 1 hour and 20 minutes I guessed. If its 2 hours, I will definitely say the movie worth your money. Hehe.

Movie Review : War of the Dragons

Actually, I've seen this movie for quite a long time already. Not in malaysia's cinema, but on pirated DVD shelves in Miri. The title also different. It was 'Dragon Wars'. I also noticed that in Korea, the movie's title was 'D-War'. Whats with this different titles anyway? Bengong.. Hehe.

After watching this movie, I said to L 'Ni macam tgk Ultraman je'. L replied 'Dragonball pun ada gak!". True..its true. 'Ultraman' is where the dragons attacked the city. As for the dragonball, of course the Dragon itself. You know what happened when all of the dragonballs collected by Goku right? Yup, he can summoned a Dragon. That dragon kinda the same in this movie. Hehe. (Of course la dragons are same right?)

Based on Korean myth, every 500 years, an Imoogi will try to become a Divine Dragon. In order to become a Dragon, Imoogi needs something called 'Yoo Da' I think. Not so sure whats the name. Hehe. Imoogi actually a serpent. Very big one. This movie have 2 Imoogi, good and bad imoogi.

The 'Yoo da' things kept in human soul. Or should I say a girl's soul. Fate decided that a reincarnation of a past warrior will also emerge to help that innocent girl. Jason Behr (Roswell drama fame) plays the role of this so called 'warrior'.

The evil imoogi do have its own followers. As they already identified the girl, they pursue and chased the girl. The warrior with the help of another 'sifoo', master Ba Chuan try and protect the girl from the evil bad imoogi. But failed. Huhu.

The bad guys managed to capture Sarah. What happened next? Hehe. Watch it for yourself lor.

The evolution from Serpent(Imoogi) to the dragon. Kinda cool. Huhu. Cant wait for the Dragonball the Movie. Hehe.

Movie Review : Hellboy 2 - The Golden Army

Well, we went for another movie outing yesterday. Hellboy 2. Did you know that for first Hellboy, Malaysia changed the title to Super Sapiens? Wonder why the 2nd they didn't changed. And what's wrong with the word Hellboy anyway? Bengong..

Moving on. This movie tells a story about a legend of a truce between human and 'other' species. Long, long time ago, human managed to control all over the world by war. And in the process defeated this 'other' species. One day, a blacksmith offer the King of the 'other' species to build a special army. The Golden Army, indestructable and undefeated army. In order to control the army, a device created. Only the owner of the device can control the Army provided no challenge from other qualified challenger.

After they finished build the army, they fought in another war with the human. In the process, both power agreed to a truce or a peace treaty. Its like creating a border between 2 worlds. The King agreed and send the golden army to a hidden place. Kept secret. Prince Nuala, the King's son didn't agree with the truce and promised to take vengeance to the humankind later.

Cut story short, the device that supposed to be kept hidden found in the human world. As they began auctioning for this 'artifact', Prince Nuala came and claim the device as his species' own. This is the starting poing where Red(Hellboy) with his team get involve with this mess.

Apart from the war story, there's also a romantic story between Red and Liz. I cant imagine Red and Liz having a baby. Maybe a 'Red + Burning' baby huh? And Abe also had his love story. Hehe. See for yourself.

The early scene where the narrator describe about the history of the Human vs other species. Just lame. Its like watching Lego cartoon. Hehe.

Movie Review : Bank Job

Where should I start? Hehe. Nothing so attractive actually about this movie. Except for the Transporter 1 & 2 hero in it, Jason Statham. And of course, the title itself. Kinda like Italian Job huh?

Towards the end of the movie, It appeared to me that this movie actually based on a true story. Except for the names of course. Huhu.

Actually, I missed a few minutes of the movie because of L and I kinda late yesterday. Hehe. So, this review is based on my understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

The story is about an amateur gangs of 3 guys who desperately in need of money. Jason Statham lead the gang. One day, a lady came to them and offered them something that they cant refuse. Hehe. A Bank Job indeed.

The idea was to robbed the bank by underground. Prison Break kind of thing. If y'know what I mean. No special gadgets or lasers involved. Just ordinary amateur tools to dig and crush the floor and concrete wall.

Cut story short, they managed to rob the bank. What the robbers didn't know was that the bank also have storage boxes that contains docs and also photos. Explicit contents should I say. Hehe.

The lady who ask for them to rob the bank actually wants a safety deposit box numbered 118. It contained explicit photos of someone in the Royal Family. It turned out that the lady taking the order from someone High in the government. In returns, the lady will get her drug trafficking case cleared out from the Police.

The story become more complicated when the robbers knew they also have explicit photos of a Member of Parliament and also a Financial Ledger owned by a Porn Film producer. The ledger actually record all the payments made by the producer to cops so that he can do his thing easier. List of corrupted cops should I say.

And thats the overall picture. Dont want to spoil the ending for you. Watch it for yourself la. Hehe.

British accent and also inconsistent Malay translation. You have to listen carefully to understand the movie. The translation sometimes incorrect.

No 'Italian Job' kind of bank robbery. Too straightforward and simple method used. Lame.

Movie Preview #1 : Get Smart

Yup. A preview. Hehe. I still didn't watch this movie. I do expect this movie will be great. We have The Rock in it! The rock played as an Agent in this movie. I supposed he will be some sort assisting this Smart guy (Steve Carrell) to perform a mission. Not sure what mission is that.

And yeah, Anne Hathaway also in the movie. Isn't she the one starred in Princess Diaries and also Devils wear Prada? Huhu.

I did watch the movie yesterday. Hehe. Again of course together with L. Overall, I gave this movie a 4.5/5 rating. Hillarious. Hehe.

Everything's funny. You should see it for yourself. Hehe. Especially the dancing scene. Smart dance with a WoOooMan. A 'Big' Woman.

Also, Nakamura from Heroes also stars in this movie. Masi Oka plays as a computer expert deals with gadgets for the agents.

Movie Review : Made of Honour

As usual, another movie review after the weekend. Hehe. This time around, it was Patrick Dempsey's Made of Honour. The plan was to watch Mark Wahlberg's The Happening or The Rock's Get Smart. Already fully booked! Damn. That leave us just for Made of Honour.

I predicted that the movie would be some sort of Julia Roberts' My Best Friend's Wedding. Indeed, I was correct! :) The only difference is that Patrick Dempsey become the other significant other. Yup, a male. Instead of female in My Best Friend's Wedding.

The story started out by showing how Tom (Pat Dempsey) being involved with in sex with different kind of women. Yup, enough explaining that.

And one day, he accidentally slept with the heroin. Tom thought she was another girl who he supposed to spent the night with. Actually nothing much happened. Except that the woman hit and sprayed Tom in the eye with a perfume! That's the turning point.

Can you imagine, you spent 10 years after that you be-friended with the girl you almost ehem-ehem with? Yup, just friends. This thing can happened huh?

To cut long story short, as Tom was supposed to expressed his feeling towards the girl, the girl announced she was getting married. Ironic isn't it? The rival happened to be a fellow scottish guy who helps her during her works at Scotland. What happened was, she involved with a thunderstorm and at the same couldn't continue to drive because of a herd of cows jamming up the road. The scotsmen came to the rescue with a horse! Talking about fairy-tale prince charming huh?

To make things worse, she elected Tom as the Maid of Honour. Actually i dont know if this MOH thing practiced in Malaysia. Hehe. MOH usually the bride's female friend who would assist the bride in her preparation for the wedding.

But, Tom's had other plan. He want to steal the girl. In order to do that, he took the offer and become MOH so that he can spent more time with her and then steal her. You got my point right? See it for yourself for more clearer picture. :)

10 years? Too long I think. Even 5 years I think was long enough. Can a guy and a girl be best friends for 10 years? I mean FRIENDS.. BEST.. 10 YEARS?? Come on..hehe. Also no 'Say A Little Prayer' scene. Hehe.

Movie Review: Drillbit Taylor

Last Friday, L and I went for another movie outing. That time, Owen Wilson's Drillbit Taylor was on cinema.

The movie started by highlighting how miserable Drillbit Taylor was. He's homeless, pathetic, loser and a beggar. There was no scene showed where he slept actually.

At the same, 3 nerd kids have problems with a bully in their school. They need protection. A bodyguard. But of course, good bodyguard doesnt come cheap. Only 1 person fit the bill. He's cheap, he's Drillbit.

After that,... you need to watch for yourself. Hehe..

Moment of The movie
Drillbit teach the 3 kids how to fight. Its like a crab teach 3 baby crabs how to walk straight forward.

Moan of the movie
No chicks. No girl power. Actually, drillbit had a gf. But, the character only had small part in the movie. The same thing for the asian girl.

Movie Review #3 : Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull

Another review. Phew.. I tried to make it more shorter. Hehe.

Okay, what do you expect to see in this sequel of Indiana Jones? Action packed? Beautiful Chicks? Who's the bad guy? How come the skull is crystal? Will there be another sequel after this?

Honestly, I think the movie is kinda Independence Day (the space ship) + Indiana Jones (who else??) + E.T (the alien) + National Treasure (treasure hunting) + Da Vinci Code (confusing..trailing the Kingdom by words and riddles).

That's how cool this movie is. Cool doesn't mean great! hehe.. The actors were great. Found comments and reviews on the net that un-supportive to this movie. Their basis is the script. Who am I to argue or to agree with them. Hehe..

Most interesting part I think was Mutt Williams. Indiana Jones the 3rd. Yup, Indiana Jones 2nd has a son. Expect another sequel after this. Of course, Shia Leboef will take over the main role. Yeah, we need young people to do the ass-kicking. Not some old-fashioned and out of date kinda guy. Hehe.. We are talking about the Hero in Transformers : The Movie here.. Another Tom Cruise in the making.

Towards the end, Indy 2nd and Mary managed to get married. There's a scene where suddenly the door of the church opened and blew the Cowboy hat. Yeah, the 'special hat'. As Mutt was trying to reach and hold to the hat, Indy snap the hat before Mutt. I was expecting Mutt will wear the hat just to cool things up. Y'know just to show the movie-goers that he will be the next Indy. I guess, we (viewers) can understand it after all. The message's clear.

Alien..Alien..Alien..Another Dimension? UFO?? Huh~!.. totally nonsense.. hehe.. But in the movie, actully it all makes sense. Better watch it yourself.

The movie started out with both Ashton and Cameron had problems with their love relationship. Jack (Ashton) seems unorganized and not really a family man, while Joy(Cameron) was dumped by his ex-fiance in front of her friends.



To cut story short, both decided to forget about everything and went to Vegas. If you did saw the trailer of this movie, you would probably knew already what will happened. Both get married (Vegas style!). As they were going to divorce the next day, Jack hit the Jackpot 3 Million! The quarter (coin) used by Jack, happened to be Joy's. Both arguing about who supposed to win the 3 Mil.

The argumenet continues in New York, where the judge decided to put both of them on some sort of 6 Months Probation. The purpose is simple. To respect Marriage and value how good husband and wife should be. Yeah, very good and noble judge indeed. Hehe.

Next scenes was hilarious. Hehe. You got to see the movie. Very funny indeed. I'm not going to spoil you. Hehe..

I just couldn't understand why the Judge decided the 6 months probation. And also, Jack's friend. Who is he? Lawyer?

Moment of the Movie
Funniest thing I think was the Therapy Sessions. Hehe.. Especially when Jack explained how he got hit by Joy which in reality just a set up to make Joy look bad. The funny thing is that Joy actually video recorded how Jack actually been hit by his friends to make it more real.

Movie Review : Narnia - Prince Caspian

First of all, I'm not a good reviewer of movies. Hehe.. perhaps just want to let y'll know what I think of this movie.

I went to TGV KLCC yesterday, accompanied by L. As always, :) . I'm not a big fan of LOTR-type of movies. Since L insisted to watch this, so I said 'Ok, why not?'

My mistake was I didn't watch the first Narnia, (the one with longer title, closet+white witch+narnia+etc). It would be much more entertaining to watch if you already watch the first, and not spend most of the time asking person besides you "Who's Aslan?"

Moving on to the critics, I should say that this movie is worth your money. Except the Prince Caspian's english accent througout the movie quite annoying sometimes. Hehe.

The story started when Prince Caspian started blowing the horn (Aslan's horn I think) which in returns resurrect/called upon the so called 'Queens and Kings of Narnia'.

At the same time, elsewhere to the other side of the world, a portal opened. Portal where these Kings and Queens of Narnia went through and arrive at Narnia! Soon, they've learnt that Narnia was doomed! Narnians extincted! Aslan went vanished!

Next, of course pretty predictable. To overthrone the evil King (Caspian's uncle), to rebuild Narnia, to find Aslan, so on and so forth.

Moan of the movie
I just couldn't understand why Aslan actually left the Narnians. Somehow, he/it eventually decided to help after meeting up with Lucy. Why not earlier than that? Why Lucy? Maybe if I watched the first movie, then I would understand. Or perhaps wait another sequel?

Moment of the movie
Of course the battle scene. But not as goof as LOTR battle scene. Its okay-lah. Another one is the (cameo) appearance of the evil White Witch. Kinda cool.
